ZSIC Cultural Protocols Workshop – Transport For NSW, July 2022
ZSIC delivered a presentation exploring and highlighting the importance of Cultural Protocols, what they look like, how to apply them and with whom, as a request from Transport NSW. Transport NSW are developing major community transport infrastructure, through building bridges and creating highway bypasses in the local areas of Dubbo and Parkes in NSW. Consultation and engagement with First Nations People of the Wiradjuri Tribal Sovereign Nation, and Custodial Clan Groups, were the critical underlying message that ZSIC delivered.
As a result of ZSIC’s cultural expertise and how the workshop was delivered, Transport for NSW staff and participants that attended have shared the following feedback:
Learned so much I didn’t know in this presentation today. This would be beneficial to everyone inside and outside of any workplace. The presentation was delivered very well and the presenter was extremely engaging, respectful and included everyone in the room, ensuring everyone had a voice. Very worthwhile but I wish we had had more time.

I think it’s so important to consciously learn and improve ourselves, as white people, to support and build meaningful relationships with our Aboriginal colleagues and stakeholders.

Loved the presentation today thanks so much. I will never stop being shocked and saddened at the terrible treatment of Aboriginal people. Thanks for providing a safe open minded space to be honest and learn.
